Keuka Lake — Riesling, Gorge Trails & Saddle Time, NY

Destination: Keuka Lake, Finger Lakes, New YorkNights: 3Group: 410Season: June, July, August, SeptemberEstimated: $1,200–$1,800 per person

Three days anchored in a private Keuka Lake house—white board-and-batten, dock-side, morning coffee watching sailboats cross the water. A guided tasting at Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery, where the Rieslings taste like minerality and intention, paired with cheese from local creameries. Watkins Glen State Park's gorge trail at dawn—nineteen waterfalls, stone staircase switchbacks, the ritual of cold water on ankles before lunch at Stonecat Cafe, their wood-fired kitchen turning local corn and lake fish into the kind of meal you remember. Afternoon saddle time at Painted Pony Ranch, trail ride through Seneca Lake vineyards, the girls quiet on horseback, the only sound hoofbeats and wind through September grapes.

Questions

What's the riding experience level?
Painted Pony Ranch accommodates all levels—they'll match you to your horse and take the pace easy. No prior experience needed.
Can we do the gorge hike in one morning?
Yes. The full Watkins Glen loop is about 3.5 miles with 800 ft elevation gain—doable in 2–3 hours if you start at sunrise and take your time at the falls.
What's the lake house like?
Expect a restored cottage or modern farmhouse rental with a dock, full kitchen, and sleeping for 6–10. Most have fireplaces and views of the water; book 2–3 months ahead for peak season.
