Breitenbush Hot Springs — Mineral Silence in the Old Growth, OR

Destination: Breitenbush Hot Springs, Willamette National Forest, OregonNights: 3Group: 410Season: May, June, July, August, September, OctoberEstimated: $850–$1,400 per person

Three days unplugged at Breitenbush Hot Springs, a clothing-optional retreat nestled in old-growth Douglas fir where the North Santiam River runs cold and the geothermal pools steam year-round. Mornings begin in silence—5 a.m. yoga on the deck overlooking the canyon, then a slow soak in the 104-degree mineral pool as mist rises through the trees. Communal vegetarian dinners in the lodge, wine by the fire, and nights in simple cedar cabins with no cell service, no mirrors, no noise but the river and the occasional elk call.

Questions

Is it really clothing-optional?
Yes—the pools and grounds embrace a body-positive ethos. Bring a swimsuit if you prefer, but many guests embrace the freedom. It's reverent, not hedonistic.
What's the vibe with no phones?
Intentional. You'll talk, read, soak, and sleep more deeply than you have in years. The retreat asks for digital silence; most guests find it transformative.
Can we do this in winter?
Breitenbush is open year-round, but May through October offers the easiest access and warmest hiking. Winter soaks are magical but roads can be icy.
