Questions

Travers vs regular race day?
Travers Day (last Saturday in August) is the Triple Crown's elder Stake — picnic energy, dress code, $50-150 grandstand seats. A regular Wednesday or Thursday is half the price and the better people-watching.
Adelphi Hotel — does the price hold up?
Standard rooms run $400-700/night non-race week; $800-2,500 during race meet. The 1877 Victorian restoration is genuinely worth the rate; July 4th and Travers weekend are the premium.
Roosevelt Baths — what's it like?
Built 1935 over the Saratoga mineral springs. Private soaking tubs in restored bathhouse. $30-50 per soak; full spa treatments à la carte. Located in Saratoga Spa State Park, 5 minutes from downtown.
Train from NYC?
Amtrak Empire to Albany-Rensselaer, $50-100 each way, 2.5 hours. Then 25 minutes by car or shuttle to Saratoga. The drive from Manhattan is 3.5 hours direct.
