Auberge Resorts' founding property — a Mediterranean villa on a hillside above Rutherford with a 33-acre olive grove and 50 suites. The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil holds 18 consecutive Michelin stars under chef Robert Curry; Wine Spectator Grand Award since the program started. Dawn hot-air balloon flights launch from the valley floor and land on the terrace for a champagne-and-eggs breakfast. Day two: a Soleil Trail hike past the 100-piece sculpture garden, vineyard yoga at La Pagode (the Japanese ryokan pavilion), a cellar dinner with the chef. Day three is a private tasting at one of the Rutherford Bench cabernets — Caymus, Quintessa, Inglenook — before the drive back to SFO.
